babblebox: it goes on and on…

say what?
My name is Nina Partridge. I started Babblebox Creative in 2004 while I was in college, and have been consistently chipping away at my vision ever since. The name was inspired by a kids illustration I saw one day in the hallway of the Stanley A. Milner Library (Edmonton). The simple stickman illustration of a boy in a treehouse with a talking bubble that said “babbelbox” (spelled like that) pointing at by another boy was a paradigm for me. There was something about it that spoke to me and said ‘this is it!’. Quirky and unusual, a bit like myself, not to mention the well known fact that I have been known to talk a lot – it just felt like there couldn’t be a more perfect name for me. It represents the inner child I channel each time i sit down to create something, which i hope you find vibrant, fun and energetic. Its not work if you are having fun with it!
design
I currently provide a wide range of design services that tailor to each client’s very specific needs. I strongly believe in involving my clients in the process, because I understand how important and personal their vision is to them. My clients enjoy peace of mind, knowing they are putting their money in the right place because: they work directly with an agency experienced designer, they feel ‘understood’ and ’put first’, they enjoy prompt customer service and and they get consistently great results. My clients are satisfied and excited because their material is designed not only the way they wanted it to be – but better!
art
Everyone loves original art, and those who have some are proud owners. Most people have that one special spot in their home or office where they’ve always wanted to hang an original piece of art. Some even know exactly what they would hang there – what colours they want, what size, what format, what image…and some don’t. Either way, I will provide digital renderings of your piece prior to starting the painting! This gives clients opportunity beforehand to make their own adjustments to the colours and layout when they want something a bit different – thus eliminating any anxiety over how it will turn out…because its made right before its even started!
murals
The interest in painting wall murals stemmed from Nina’s strange interest in repainting her house over…and over…and over again. She’s got some serious love for colour, the more vibrant, the better! Each mural has only gotten bigger and bigger, from 160sq ft to 420sq ft to the most recent being 1200 sq ft! size is not an issue. Nina also only paints with highest quality artist pigment paint, that promise long lasting luminance and indoor or outdoor durability.
instruction
I’ve always had a big interest in teaching, ever since I was in college. I went to Grant MacEwan, now known as MacEwan University. I too the Visual Communications program, majoring in Design & Illustration, graduating in 2005. I loved my experience in that program so much, I decided I had to teach some day. I was hoping to land a job there some day and though I never really pursued it, the opportunity to be the first ever design instructor at Reeves College in Edmonton, really fell into my lap, and I jumped at the opportunity. Teaching is very invigorating for me, I think having the chance to educate people with what I see as a designer is incredibly rewarding, and a lot of fun. I’ll probably always seek and pursue opportunities that involve teaching in some way.
